Fashion Tip 102: Black and White Prints

Any Two Will Do

You can always match any two black and white patterns. What’s magical about going all black and white is that you don’t have to worry about coordinating colors, whether the patterns “go together” or any of those other fears when you’re trying to pair prints. Black and white will always match and always look good together.

Variety is Key

Try using larger and smaller patterns. As you’re experimenting with mixing and matching black and white patterns, try pairing a large print with a smaller print. This allows your eye to catch the larger print and add some emphasis.

Ying and Yang

Try using one predominately black and one predominately white. Have a black print with a white background paired with a white print over a black print is a great way to add a balanced, ying-yang affect. Your outfit won’t be too dark or too light.

BE YOU!

Experiment with unique patterns you may not be comfortable with. This is a great way to break out of your comfort zone to experiment while still confidently knowing that you’re pulling it off! Mixing and matching black and white gives you a safe space to find your unique style. So buy that crazy jacket or those cool pants you saw at the mall. You can never go wrong with black and white.
